Description of the course

In (almost) every doctoral thesis you will sooner or later have to work with statistics and wish you had paid more attention in the module "Scientific Work".

In the course we will repeat the most important statistical basics and practice the execution and interpretation of the most important statistical tests in SPSS.

The course is divided into 4 parts. The individual parts build on each other and each last about 3 hours (with breaks).

Part I: Basic Statistical Terms, Descriptive Statistics I
Part II: Descriptive Statistics II, Principle of a Statistical Test
Part III: Inductive statistics
Part IV: Interpretation of Statistics & Verification of Requirements

Target group:

From 3rd semester onwards, the course is aimed at statistics beginners.

Previous knowledge: 

Module "Scientific Work" visited. You must be able to speak German or English! (For course language, see course booking info in the LLP). Without knowledge of the courses language, we cannot give you ECTS points for the course.

General information

All courses can only be booked via the Charité's learning objectives platform (link see "Book event" above). The different courses serve to acquire practical doctoral skills.

For a detailed understanding and the concrete application of the individual course contents, it is assumed that the students will independently deal with the taught contents.
