Description of the course
In our (maximum) 16-hour (spread over two days) doctoral courses we work with you on the following topics:
- Search & selection of a doctoral thesis / type of doctorate / doctoral supervisor
- Legal framework (including doctoral agreement, financing, registration, doctoral regulations, grading, defence, good scientific practice)
- Literature research (PubMed) and literature administration (EndnoteWeb); important functions in Word, Excel, SPSS (short introduction)
- Basics of statistics Presentation of posters / lectures In a joint exchange of experience, typical problems should also be discussed and possible solutions developed.
Target group:
The doctoral course is not only aimed at doctoral students who are at the beginning of a doctorate or are looking for a topic for their dissertation or term paper. Even advanced doctoral students can re-structure their project and receive advice on how to write their thesis.
Previous knowledge:
No previous knowledge necessary. You must be able to speak German or English! (For course language, see course booking info in the LLP). Without knowledge of the courses language, we cannot give you ECTS points for the course.

Attention! The course you have chosen may be fully booked. In this case you will be put on a substitution list and will be notified as soon as a place becomes available. In this case you must register for the vacant place quickly.
General information
All courses can only be booked via the Charité's learning objectives platform (link see "Book events" above). The different courses serve to acquire practical doctoral skills.
For a detailed understanding and the concrete application of the individual course contents, it is assumed that the students will independently deal with the taught contents.
In the sense of equality, doctoral students with children, relatives in need of care, full-time employees or similar obligations who have problems finding an appointment can contact us by e-mail and we will try to find an individual solution.
